I have some exciting updates that I want to share with you about Tribe Games. I can’t talk about some of them yet, but I can elaborate on a couple you might be asking yourself about. So, let’s dig in.
Tribe Website Ideas
As I mentioned while I was catching you up on everything that has happened, this site has remained dormant for the past 6 years and I want to change that somewhat. Regarding blogs posts, you can expect some blog posts here and there, but not a ton. I might do the occasional “I’m going to this convention” or “I did this talk” but I’m not planning on doing a lot of devlogs on here like I used to. If you want to get up-to-the-minute updates, you can follow either Tribe Games’ official Twitter account or my personal Twitter account for any behind the scenes insights on current projects. You might get the occasional post about certain aspects of Tribe projects here, but it isn’t guaranteed.
You also may have noticed but there is now a mailing list! If you are at all interested in announcements about new games, release or any other major updates sign up for the new mailing list here. I want to emphasize that this will only be for major updates, so you won’t be getting a lot of emails from this newsletter. So, for instance, if you wanted to know when HyperDot is released on Switch and PlayStation you should follow the newsletter. Which brings me to…
So… when’s the HyperDot ports coming?
Unfortunately, I can’t give an exact date yet because there are things outside of my control that are also dictating the release date. Over the last year I have been working on getting HyperDot onto Switch and PlayStation 4 and 5. There have been some… ups and downs working on them. Setbacks and complications have delayed the release already. Not to mention the pandemic both making some of the features I’m working on hard to test as well as chip away at my motivation to work for large swaths of time. But fortunately, I’ve recently been making some big strides on the ports themselves, but I sadly can’t make any promises at this point.
I know, it isn’t a satisfying answer. I really do wish I could just say “And it is coming out…!” but I just can’t at this point.
Reviving an Old Game
The very last blog post from 6 years ago was of a game that I made during Global Game Jam 2016, Neon Ritual. Like the other games that I re-released last year, Neon Ritual was lost to time unless you really know where to look. So, I am happy to announce that Neon Ritual is back and available to download once again! This version is the updated one that I showed off at Glitch Con 2016.
You might have noticed that if you look around the website you won’t find Neon Ritual anywhere, well that is because I’m moving it away from Tribe Games and instead it will be a “Charles McGregor” joint. So, this will be the last time I bring up Neon Ritual here on this site. If you want to find details, you can go to the itch page directly or check out my personal portfolio site for details on the project. But I will say that I have no plans to continue working on this because I’m working on HyperDot stuff as well as another game.
Robo Fighting Arena
A few months ago, I participated in my first game jam in 4 years with the OST Jam Vol 6. A jam where the community creates an album, and you use the music as inspiration for your game. I ended up creating a game called OmniGear, a Custom Robo inspired by brawler. I’m mentioning this game as a footnote as it isn’t officially a Tribe Games “game” yet as I am still ironing out the details, but I have committed to doing a full release. So be sure to follow me on social media to learn more in the future.
But there you have it, the final of these “house cleaning” posts complete. Hope that gave you a good picture of what has happened, what just happened, and what is happening later. Remember to check out the newsletter if you are interested in hearing about the major updates. I’m really excited about all the things that I have in store for you to check out soon, thank you for reading!
