Recently, I had the opportunity to work with Pollen and Glitch Gaming on an article on the Cofounder and close friend, Evva Kraikul (@Evvahs). I was tasked with creating a small game that would be embedded into the article that related to Evva as well as what she is doing in Minnesota. Considering Pollen’s audience, some people don’t play games often, so they came up with the idea of making a game like Cookie Clicker (I am not going to link that here as that may take over the next few hours of your life… though I am not going to stop you from looking it up).
So with all of that in mind I came up with the concept behind Meet Evva: The Game. You have created a game and you want to spread your idea to the fans. So you set out to spread the news to the masses traveling to different areas to share your idea! It is a fairly simple premise but it ties nicely into what the article is about. Basically the cycle is:
- Influence inspires fans
- Fans create resources
- Resources gains influence
- You click to gain resources
You can buy different upgrades to help you along your travels as well.
I had a wonderful time working on this game and it was a great learning experience. I also want to thank all those that helped out with the game specifically, huge shout out to Andy Leigh for the spectacular art and Holly Harrison for the excellent writing.
Check out the game here and be sure to read the article, it really is a well-made, fantastic piece. Also if you enjoy the music I have made a playlist of all of the songs in the game over on my SoundCloud! Check out the playlist below.
Be sure to check back tomorrow for even more updates on what has been going on the last few months!
