After a very long delay, the Tribe Games “Intro” and “Outro” video is here!

These two parts will show up at the start and end of all of the videos I make. I want to make a ‘mini’ post-mortem about the process of why I did this and how it actually went. So if you don’t want to read that skip past this part.

Intro and Outro Post Mortem

You may be asking, “Why did you work on this for so long?” Well, besides what I keep saying (It shows a level of polish…), I wanted to also practice my modeling skills. It has been a while since I modeled anything so I needed the refresher. Also I just learned modeling in Blender this summer so the more practice the better.

Working on the model for the logo wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. There were a few areas that gave me problems, but I got past them. At first when I started the intro, I had no idea on how the outro was going to look like. Normally I would plan both of these things out a head of time, but I didn’t want to waste time planning. So I figured, “They both are going to use the logo” and started work on the logo. The first draft of the intro didn’t have anything in the background, nothing of interest. I knew that there should be some form of interest in the background so I tried to emulate the background of the blog a bit. In the end I think that it turned out great, “short and to the point” as an intro should be. But this wasn’t the real problem.

The “true” problem was rendering it out, I was having issues with keeping the quality of the video when ever I rendered out anything. Things would look pixellated, the frame rate would drop, the color would be off, and there were tears in the video just to name a few things. I found a solution through various attempts at finding the right software to use, though this is currently a temporary solution as I need a more permanent one soon if I want to continue making videos of high quality. But now that is past me and I can move on with work on the game.

Hopefully this has given you some insight into the thought process I am taking to get this work done, maybe this even helped solve a problem your having in terms of video editing or intro layouts (Don’t start without a plan and make sure you have the right software for you).

Ok, so besides the intro and outro videos I did do some work on the game… just not visually. I refined the concepts and mechanics some more and I am learning C# as well. So I can’t show you any visual update just yet. I will hopefully get a playable demo out sooner rather than later. But for now I hope that you will enjoy the work that I put in to the videos.
