Oh boy! Time to talk about GlitchCon! GlitchCon 2015 was amazing! I can’t even begin to describe how awesome it was to go, meet new people, see the panels, and hear some cool stories. Where do I begin…
For starters the very first thing we saw was James Portnow speak for the keynote. For those who don’t know he is one of the cofounders of Extra Credits, a popular show on YouTube discussing a variety of game topics ranging from Game Design to recommendations of lesser known games. It was inspiring to see him speak in person and the questions that he brought up.
That day I was able to attend two panels: one of them was centered on sprite creation and pixel art. It was really cool seeing how the process of creating the featured game, Dream Arcade, was where over 20+ artists created the art for each level creating a very interesting and unique game experience. The second was an audio talk for based around the game A Druid’s Duel, lots of great pointers and it is always awesome to check out some other workflows. Also a special shout out to Troy Stand (@YellowChord) for hanging back after his talk to listen to some of my music!
The next day the keynote speaker was Ashly Burch of “Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin?” fame, a sketch comedy show on YouTube. Very inspiring speech on the anxiety, games and gaming memories.
The rest of that day was dedicated to showing my game off at Minnecade, a place where local independent developers had the opportunity to show off their games. Alongside Escape Industries and Fingenace, I was able to show of Glitch in the System all day long. I had a wonderful time meeting all your guys and meet the local developers here in Minnesota. Seeing all of the other around me really made me feel like I was part of a growing game development community really inspiring.
Throughout Minnecade, attendees were able to vote on games in various categories and at the end the games were awarded. I am proud to say that Glitch in the System won best audio! Thank you guys so much for all of the support over the years and I hope that I continue to deliver quality work for you all to enjoy. Thanks again and congratulations to all of the other winners as well (@WallrideGames, @Graveck, and @lightgreyartlab).
Check out the soundtrack that got Glitch the win!
Again, Thanks so much guys for all of the support I really do appreciate. GlitchCon 2015 was amazing and I can’t wait for next year’s adventure. Check back tomorrow as I discuss what is happening in the future!
